UFC 248: Adesanya vs Romero Odds & Picks
UFC 248 will be taking place on March 7th, 2020 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Nevada. This live pay-per-view event is holding a very interesting main card that you don't want to miss.  The main event is set with Israel Adesanya getting into the octagon with Yoel Romero. Adesanya has not only his title on the line, but also his undefeated record. Also on the main card, the first title matchup of the evening; the women's strawweight division with Weili Zhang going against Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

Israel Adesanya vs Yoel Romero

Undefeated rising star Israel Adesanya takes on the middleweight bogeyman when he faces Yoel Romero in the main event of UFC 248. This will be Stylebender’s first title defense as the champion of the middleweight division. This card is absolutely stacked and we can’t wait for this fight. With that said let’s jump straight into our prediction and betting tips for this championship fight.

30 Age 42
1.93 m Height 1.83 m
83.9 kg Weight 83.9 kg
203.2 cm Reach 186.7 cm

Adesanya holds advantages in height, age and reach on arms and legs. Adesanya lands more and absorbs less due to greater defense. The age is also going to be a big factor in this fight. Adesanya, at 30-years old, will be 12-years younger than The Soldier of God and we know that the youngster wins 70% of the time in a scenario like this. Let’s take a closer look at why the fight is likely to play out this way.

Pick:  Israel Adesanya -235

Weili Zhang vs Joanna Jedrzejczyk

In the co-main event, UFC Strawweight Champion Zhang Weili defends her title against former division ruler Joanna Jedrzejczyk. In August, Weili stunned the MMA world by registering a 42-second KO win over champion Jessica Andrade to annex the title belt, and she now sets out to make her first defense. But in facing “Joanna Champion,” Weili will be tangling with the woman who first brought distinction to this weight class, winning 6 title fights from 2014-17. Is she still up to championship form or will we see Weili show the same dominant form she showed in winning the title?

Weili Zhang Tale of the tape Joanna Jedrzejczyk
20-1-0 Record 16-3-0
30 Age 32
1.63 m Height 1.68 m
52.2 kg Weight 56.7 kg
160 cm Reach 166.4 cm
I’m betting on Zhang Weili at -145 betting odds. She’s the fresher and more-dangerous fighter, which should be enough to usurp Joanna’s intensity and experience. With no stoppage wins since 2015, Joanna’s routes to the winner’s circle are more limited, and I see another big performance from Weili in UFC 248.

Pick: Weili Zhang -150

Derek Brunson vs Edmen Shahbazyan

Brunson, considered by many the division’s stepping stone, is 3-2 in his last five. He is coming off a decision win against Ian Heinisch. Shahbazyan, undefeated at 11-0, is making his fifth octagon walk for the UFC and will look to climb the ranks if he gets a win over Brunson. Shahbazyan finishes 91% of his fights. The fans learned about him when he knocked out Brad Tavares with a head kick at UFC 244 last year. Shahbazyan is a well-rounded fighter and has knockout power and grappling skills. Brunson will be timid like he was in the Adesanya fight and will be nervous to engage, allowing Shahbazyan to find his distance and rhythm to finish the fight early.

Derek Brunson Tale of the tape Edmen Shabazyan
20-7-0 Record 11-0-0
36 Age 22
1.85 m Height 1.88 m
83.9 kg Weight 83.9 kg
195.6 cm Reach 188 cm
Shahbazyan is an incredible finisher. He holds nine knockout wins all coming in the first round. Shahbazyan has knockout power, no doubt about it, and combining this with the fact that Brunson has been knocked out four times in the first round in his career we have an idea of how this fight will play out. Brunson at 36 years of age has had a long career and has taken a lot of damage compared to his opponent. The youngster has a lot of momentum and is 14 years younger than his opponent.

Pick: Edmen Shahbazyan -250

Sean O'Malley vs Jose Quinonez

Sean O’Malley’s planned fight is on the move once again, this time not to the canceled bin but just another date, going from UFC 247 to UFC 248 in Las Vegas, Nevada instead. Jose Quiñonez (8-3) has been more active than O’Malley lately due to O’Malley’s struggles with USADA and the Nevada State Athletic Commission regarding traces of Ostarine. Quinonez has fought two times since O’Malley’s last fight, and it will be over two years since O’Malley’last fight, a Fight of the Night winner over Andre Soukhamthath. With the hurdles of USADA and the NSAC behind him, Sean O’Malley will be right back in the same arena as his win over Soukhamthath and will look to cash in on another win to continue to build his undefeated record that currently sits at a round 10-0.

Sean O'Malley Tale of the tape Jose Quinonez
10-0-0 Record 8-3-0
25 Age 29
1.8 m Height 1.73 m
61.2 kg Weight 61.2 kg
182.9 cm Reach 175.3 cm

We think Sean O'Malley takes this fight and continues his undefeated streak. Jose Quinonez is a good opponent for him and should be O'Malley's test to see if he is the real deal. Can't see how Sean could lose here, but then again anything is possible. I would put my money on O'Malley to get the win.

Pick: Sean O'Malley -270
