Many people expected Tottenham to struggle in this Champions League group, especially after their dire performance at Wembley last season. However, they are in a very good position at the moment, joint top of the group with Real Madrid having beaten Borussia Dortmund and APOEL and taken a point from the Bernabeu.
However, their form over the last week or so has dipped. They relinquished a two goal lead at home to West Ham in the League Cup only to lose 3-2, and they followed that with a 1-0 defeat away to Manchester United at the weekend.
Real Madrid have suffered some pitfalls of their own this season. They lost 2-1 at Girona despite holding a 1-0 lead on Sunday, a result which leaves them eight points adrift of Barcelona in the race for the La Liga title. They do have a game in hand, but it’s not looking good for Zinedine Zidane’s men at the moment.
In the Champions League they are still looking like the world’s best team though. They opened the campaign with a run of the mill 3-0 win over APOEL, and their 3-1 win at Borussia Dortmund followed that, before they dropped points against Spurs.
Tottenham are at 23/10 to win, a draw is at 13/5, and a Real Madrid win is at 21/20.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Real Madrid News & Prediction
Tottenham Hotspur: Mauricio Pochettino will see both defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama and winger Erik Lamela return soon, but both remain out here. After missing the match at United on Saturday, Harry Kane is expected to make a return against Los Blancos.
Real Madrid: Zinedine Zidane will continue to be without central midfielder Mateo Kovacic and right back Dani Carvajal due to injury and illness. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Keylor Navas has been dealing with an injury and is a major doubt for this match as well. Center back Raphael Varane went off early on Sunday, and there is some worry it could be another defensive blow to them.
