Houston Dynamo vs Portland Timbers Match Preview, Free Picks & Prediction
Houston Dynamo look likely to remain in a basement battle for the rest of the regular season, and following defeat to Dallas before the international break their chances of finishing in the play-off places look slim. On Sunday Houston Dynamo play host to a Portland Timbers side that currently occupy one of the top six places in the Western Conference and remain unbeaten in their last three games following a 2-0 win over struggling Colorado Rapids.
Houston Dynamo were thoroughly outplayed in their last game against local rivals and Western Conference leaders Dallas before the international break, losing 4-2 away. The hosts took the lead in the tenth minute through Colombian Barrios, a goal that proved enough to separate the two clubs through to the half time break.
Váleri moved into double figures against Colorado Rapids, as Portland Timbers ran out 2-0 winners against the struggling Western Conference side. After having two goals disallowed for offside, Portland took the lead on the stroke of half time through young centre forward Ebobisse who scored in his first start for the club this year.
The hosts dominated the game but had to wait until the sixty-fifth minute for Váleri’s goal which ended any hopes of a Colorado Rapids comeback, and it was thanks to fellow Argentinian Blanco who dribbled down the left flank and delivered a pinpoint cross right on Valeri’s head.
Houston Dynamo News:DeLaGarza, Cabezas, and Steeves remain sidelined for the hosts through injury.
Portland Timbers News: Miller, Gleeson, and Attinella are injured and likely to miss Sunday's game.
