Celtic’s luck in the Champions League group stage draw can be considered as quite poor, and as many expected when they drew alongside PSG, Bayern Munich, and Anderlecht they are all but out of the race for qualification to the latter stages.
However, they managed to pick up a 3-0 win away to Anderlecht in between their defeats to PSG and Bayern, and that actually puts them in a fantastic position to qualify for the Europa League knockout rounds. They are currently 3rd in the group, three points behind Bayern Munich but three above Anderlecht.
Bayern Munich haven’t been at their best this season either, but the appointment of Jupp Heynckes as manager is a positive step forward and they will be confident going on towards the rest of the season.
The visitors worst result of the season was undoubtedly their 3-0 loss at PSG in round two of the Champions League group stages, but either side of that they picked up 3-0 wins against Celtic and Anderlecht and after their 2-0 win against RB Leipzig at the weekend, another win looks very likely on Tuesday.
Celtic vs Bayern Munich News & Prediction
Celtic: Brendan Rodgers had planned on giving Scott Sinclair a good rest at the weekend, but young winger Patrick Roberts had to come off with an injury on 30 minutes. So it will affect them in two ways ahead of this crucial tie. Joining him are several defenders as they are without right back Anthony Ralston and center backs Erik Sviatchenko and Jozo Simunovic.
Bayern Munich: Jupp Heynckes was already without influential goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and winger Franck Ribery for an extended period of time, but an injury to chief striker Robert Lewandowski will give Celtic a little more hope. The injury is made worse by the fact that Thomas Muller is also out. Left back Juan Bernat is also ruled out with injury.
